about

Originally released in 2007, only on CD in Japan, The War of Art is Rennie Foster's first full length studio album. A highly personal work, this unique album details the struggle of Rennie's life and business, during a period of transition into the digital music industry. Each track is like a story. Frustration, confusion, resolve, optimism, and many other emotive themes are explored. Genre classification is next to impossible, but references to the classic sounds of Detroit and Chicago play on futuristic exploration of the elements that were prevalent at the time of the album's release, as well as Rennie's signature originality. This digital re-release of the album includes the "hidden track" that features Rennie on the mic!

The album was mastered at NSC in Detroit, by Gary Martin.

The title track and "Passive Avenger" both feature Violin and Viola played by Bethany Brown.

The cover design was created by award winning New York artist and author, Alexander Gelman. GLMN is known for his work with brands such as MTV, Sony, Russell Simmons and album covers for bands such as Blonde Redhead. He also has work in the permanent collections of MoMA, The Smithsonian and Bibliothèque National de France in Paris.

RF pays homage to Detroit techno, Chicago house music, B-boy culture and all other subculture that fuels Rennie's rebellious and infamous presence in the underground. ... more
